Commonly known as Purple Heart Wandering Jew or Purple Queen, these Tradescantia Pallida propagations are shipped with healthy bare roots.
A real jewel of a plant! Native to the Gulf region of Eastern Mexico, it's intense purple tones and lovely pink to lavender three-petaled flowers will add striking color and contrast to your indoor space or landscape. Excellent for ground cover in frost-free climates and easy to grow in pots or beds. The spreading habit of The Purple Heart is great for cascading over pots, walls, and hanging baskets. Blooms Spring to Autumn. Can be grown as a houseplant all year round in bright light to partially sunny location and is an effective air-purifier. The more light this plant receives, the darker it’s purple color will be.
The Purple Heart has been shown to be one of the most effective plants at removing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from the air. VOCs are toxic compounds released as a gas by many household fixtures such as paint, glues/adhesives, building materials, pesticides, and non-organic household cleaners/disinfectants/air fresheners.
This plant produces a sap when cut that can be mildly toxic to dogs and cats if ingested, so please keep it out of reach of your four-legged family members.
No chemicals or pesticides have been applied to our plants. We do not ship with soil as it can carry bacteria or pests.
